Wildflowers, Butterflies and bugs | Pyrography and Original Oil Painting
Wildflowers, Butterflies and bugs
After painting my wildflower meadows on canvas, the inspiration came to create a piece or two on live edge wood.
Delicate swaying grasses, poppies daisies and wild scabious with so much more. Butterflies darting from flower to flower and to alllow the viewers imaginagtion to take themselves there and walk the meadow, take in the scent and sounds around them. Absolute delite in bringing these pieces to you.
To be able to create these wonderful pieces of wood art as well as my oil paintings of wildlife brings me closer to nature and I feel that I know each animal that I work with.
Using carefully prepared wood with a live edge I pyrographed using a very hot pin like a pencil being careful not to overburn the wood, capturing the smallest detail to allow you to see every hair and detail of the woodland floor.
As an artist i have two great passions, painting and the other passion in life is wood, and how it can be used without taking away its natural beauty.
I have many memories of woodland walks and of taking close up photos of fungi, moss and what you can see on the woodland floor. I then replicate this in a composition and imaging being at that point when I start to work on the final piece the results are as realistic as possible combining pyrography, wood and oil paints as a medium to create something rather beautiful.
